The Graffiti Wall
Graffiti today is such an accepted part of culture that it’s hard to imagine what people in the UK experienced in the early seventies, as they watched their cities become steadily tattooed with hieroglyphics. Some saw it as vandalism and a symbol of urban decay. But for the artists/writers who risked life, limb, and arrest, and the teenagers, filmmakers, & eventually, curators who admired them, graffiti was a wonderful art form.
We invited along some of the UK’s hottest graffiti artists, the Graffiti Kings, to adorn their art on our massive 48ft wide x 8ft high wall. Not only that but everyone attending was invited to come and try their hand at some graf, show off their skills and get some pointers and tips from the pros at the Graffiti Kings drop-in workshop.
The Graffiti Kings are a collective dedicated to pushing Graffiti as a positive artform by defying stereotypes and utilising their talent and years of experience to show how truly powerful this medium can be. More on their work and services can be found at www.graffitikings.co.uk
The guys joined us to create a display all day at Tattoo Freeze, and were on hand so you could have a chat and squeeze out any tips so you can let loose with a spray can (in your bedroom of course!).
